  2.                                GALAXY (tm) VERSION 2.2
  3.  
  4.       With each new version of GALAXY, we have  tried  to  improve  its  speed,
  5.       power,  and  ease  of  use. With most programs, these seem to be mutually
  6.       exclusive qualities. We disagree. An easy to use program must be fast AND
  7.       powerful.  Good  program  design  and  logical  command  structures   are
  8.       responsible for ease of use, not limited features.
  9.  
  10.       We  hope  you  enjoy using GALAXY Version 2.2. Here are the major changes
  11.       from Version 1.3:
  12.  
  13.       Custom color installation has been added to the SETUP program.
  14.  
  15.       A printer pause option for single sheet feed printers has been added.
  16.  
  17.       GALAXY now supports the EGA 43 line mode.
  18.  
  19.       Column oriented blocks: Version 1.3 only allowed  complete  lines  to  be
  20.       marked as blocks. Version 2.2 now will mark any portion of a line.
  21.  
  22.       Justification:  Press  Alt-J  or choose Justify from the Preferences Menu
  23.       and all text will be right justified automatically as you  type  or  when
  24.       you reformat a paragraph.

  26.       Improved  Wordstar compatibility: If you choose to save files in Wordstar
  27.       format, the handling of "soft"  carriage  returns  is  now  identical  to
  28.       Wordstar's.
  29.  
  30.       Headers and Footers: Up to three lines may be used as headers or footers.
  31.       Dynamic page numbering can be used in either the header or the footer.
  32.  
  33.       Fixed or Automatic Tab stops: 1.3 only supported automatic tab stops. You
  34.       can now specify fixed tab stops of 1 to 255 characters.
  35.  
  36.       Optional Ruler line: Shows current margin and tab settings.
  37.  
  38.       Exit  to  Dos:  Just  press  Alt-S  or choose DOS from the Window Menu to
  39.       temporarily exit to DOS at any time.

  41.       Zoom Windows: Split screen windows can be  expanded  to  full  screen  by
  42.       pressing Alt-Z or choosing Zoom from the Window Menu.

  44.       Scrolling  and  screen update speed has been improved. Scrolling speed is
  45.       now limited by the keyboard repeat  rate,  not  the  program.  Try  using
  46.       KWIKKEY  OR  Cruise  Control to speed up the cursor. GALAXY can handle it
  47.       easily.

  49.       Help screens have been revised, and there is  a  help  screen  associated
  50.       with each pulldown menu.

  52.       The File save times have been cut in half.

  58.           The following changes have been made in Version 2.2C:

  60.               1) Repagination starts at the top of the current page.

  62.               2) The type ahead buffer is preserved in all cases
  63.                  except for  error  conditions.
  64.  
  65.               3) The cursor operation is improved for monochrome
  66.                  ega use.
  67.  
  68.               4) The file load times are faster.
  69.  
  70.               5) Problems with file save have been corrected.
  71.  
  72.               6) Justification of long lines has been improved.
  73.  
  74.               7) More sophisticated printer error handling.
  75.  
  76.               8) Better maintenance of block marks.

  78.               9) Double spacing option for printing.

  80.              10) A general speed-up of operations along with a
  81.                  smaller program size.

  84.           The following table uses BYTE Magazine's standard word processing
  85.           benchmark. OmniVerse measured the times for  GALAXY  Version  2.2
  86.           on  a  standard speed PC. The other times listed are as published
  87.           by BYTE. All times are in seconds.
